Two minor hurts in wind havoc

KANGPOKPI, February 21:Two minor Sunday school student of S. Buning village was severely injured when a strong wind damaged the temporary Sunday School classroom this noon at S. Buning village in Saitu-Gamphazol Sub Division under Gamnom Sapormeina Police station.

The injured minors were identified as Lhingemhoi Chongloi (6), d/o Kamjang Chongloi and Chongneikim Kipgen (6), d/o Lamngam Kipgen, both from S. Buning village.

The injured minors were immediately brought to CHC, Kangpokpi where the doctor referred them to Imphal.

The unfortunate incident happened when a strong wind which bristles at around 12 noon today completely damaged the temporary Sunday school classroom of S. Buning village while the children are taking a Bible class as usual on every Sunday.

It has been reportedly said that when the duo byheart the memory verse taught in the class the teacher sent them out for a short break and it was at that moment the destructive wind struck the classroom and they were injured.

Amazingly, the children who were inside the school building when the sturdy wind destroyed the building are all safe but the duo who were out of the classroom sustained injury.

A hardy wind has been witnessed from Friday evening in Sadar Hills though no major tragedy has been reported.

The giant aged tree at Keithelmanbi (Champhai) was also rooted out yesterday night by a strong wind while denizens of Kangpokpi experienced a terrible blustery weather yesterday night.
