Union Health Minister takes a jibe at Congress, says the party and corruption are synonyms

IMPHAL, February 5: An opposition party winning the bye-elections against the ruling government is phenomenal and it is a clear cut indication that the public is tired of the existing government and wants to get rid of the Congress from Manipur Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prasad Nadda said today.

The Union Minister, who is on a two-day visit of the State, was speaking at his reception programme at the BJP Manipur Pradesh office.

Addressing the programme, he said the people of Manipur are aware of the high level of corruption under the Congress government. The Congress and corruption are synonyms and two sides of the same coin, he added.

Jagat Prasad said he is happy that the BJP workers were able to bring good results in the recently held elections in the State including the Autonomous District Council election.

The norm of vote shifting presently visible in the State is a good sign, he said reflecting on the BJP’s win in the bye elections of two Assembly Constituencies, defeating Congress candidates.

BJP will provide the best help to the people of the State, Jagat Prasad assured.

Since BJP’s win in the recent bye-election, we can observe that the political scenario in the State is changing, he said, and added it is quite obvious from the results of the recent Municipal and Nagar Panchayat elections.

He continued Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to bring a change in the North East and in order to achieve this the Union Ministers are frequently visiting the region.

Despite the Centre providing various development schemes to the State during the past 40/50 years, the Congress has done nothing to usher development in the region, he asserted.

Let’s change the fate of Manipur and bring BJP to power in the next election, he called on the party workers.

Whenever, the region face any problem, the Central Ministers will always be the first to reach out, he added.

The Narendra Modi government will certainly bring development in the region, he observed.

Elaborating on his visit to the State, he said he will be visiting the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences tomorrow and inspect every detail of the institute so that the Central Ministry can provide assistance if the need arise.

He said he will also attend a special programme of the National Aids Control Society (NACO) which is being organised especially for NE States and a meeting with the Health ministers of all NE States.

In his speech, BJP Manipur president Th Chaoba expressed hope that the Union Health Minister will certainly help in improving the health sector in the State and check whether all the Centrally sponsored schemes are properly implemented in the State.

He said the BJP MLAs will raise the issue of the Sanjit Rabina Fake Encounter case during the next State Assembly Session.

He said the MLAs will also bring up the issue of all the fake encounter cases and assured to expel from the party’s primary membership if any member is found involved in the Sanjit case.

He told the gathering party workers, the root cause of all these fake encounters is corruption.

If the government had not taken money during the police recruitment process, these issues might not have come up, he added.

During the reception of the Union Minister, senior politician and former minister N Mangi of the CPI Manipur State Council and three other pradhans of Saiton and Saiton Gram Panchayats and 10 newly elected councillors of the Kumbi Municipal Council were also received.
