IMPHAL, March 30: In the wake of the replacement of president post of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) following revolt by dissident MLAs pressing their demands; Chief Minister O Ibobi, Deputy CM Gaikhangam and new MPCC president TN Haokip will be meeting with All India Congress Committee (AICC) leaders in New Delhi soon.
It may be mentioned that Dy CM Gaikhangam was replaced by MLA TN Haokip as the new president of MPCC yesterday.
According to reports received by this daily, the three leaders will be meeting with AICC top brass including its president Sonia Gandhi and In-Charge of Manipur Narayan Swami to give their consent to the replacing of the MPCC president post and to hold discussion on a decisive stand on the demands of the dissident MLAs for ministry reshuffle.
The reports said preparation is on to make the trip by the three leaders to Delhi tomorrow.
The dissident group has been demanding replacement of ministerial posts except that of Chief Minister and Dy CM and replace them by MLAs amongst the group.
A report said, CM and Dy CM intimated the dissident group that five incumbent ministers could be dropped and this was conveyed to AICC leaders.
However, the dissident MLAs have been demanding reshuffle of at least eight ministerial posts.
The imbroglio in the ministry reshuffle will be cleared after the meeting with AICC and the three leaders.
CM Ibobi and newly elected MPCC president TN Haokip will together draw up the list of the Congress MLAs to be inducted after the much speculated ministry reshuffle.
Meanwhile, another report said some amongst the dissident MLAs who hold little hope to be included in the ministry have started lobbying with the MPCC to not ignore them.
