IMPHAL, March 16: The present Congress government in the State has failed to properly implement welfare schemes for the people, claimed BJP State leader Dr Nimaichand Luwang joining the bandwagon of BJP leaders who have been lambasting the Congress government in the State.
Although welfare for the people is still far-fetched, corruption has reached sky-high, he claimed.
He was speaking at the launch of his election campaign today at Andro Bazar community hall.
The former Wangkhem MLA is eying to be BJP’s candidate in Andro Constituency in the 2017 State Assembly election.
He said since the Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh led government has come to power in the State, corruption as increased on a daily basis.
Once, the BJP overthrows the Congress government in the State, we will bring the State back on the right track, he added.
The downfall of the Congress has begun, he said, adding that BJP will certainly come to power after the 2017 election.
At the same time, Dr Nimaichand also challenged local MLA Thounaojam Shyamkumar that his assurance to construct a local brewery in Andro will not be possible before the general election in the State.
He elaborated there is a liquor prohibition Act in the State.
However, traditional preparation of local brewages is allowed in some areas, he said.
He said Shyamkumar is only trying to fool the people with his assurance.
He added if Shyamkumar’s assurance is turned into action before the assembly election, he will himself cast his vote for the MLA.
Dr Nimaichand said if he is elected, he will develop the Poirou Pat.
He said despite being born in Andro, earlier he had fielded himself as a candidate of Wangkhem Kendra following several proposals of support from people of the constituency.
But, now he has realised that he wants to work for the people of his own constituency, he added.
He added for the last 10 years, the Andro MLA has been sitting in the opposition benches, but this time, if he is elected, then he will be in the ruling party, as the BJP will certainly win the coming election.
He further appealed to the people to support him in the election.
