IMPHAL, March 6: Congress MLAs who will be joining the BJP will be highlight to public very soon said BJP State president, Th Chaoba.
He also said the BJP morale is high following these overtures from the Congress MLAs and expressed optimism the party would gain maximum seats in the upcoming IMC election.
The BJP leader was speaking at a political conference held at Keishamthong Moirangpurel Community hall, under Ward No. 13 today.
Chaoba further said that people must know that Congress MLAs are also not satisfied with the administration of their party.
He said Okram Ibobi led Congress government have nothing to showcase as work done for the welfare of the State in all of the last 14 years. He charged the incumbent government is known only for killing innocent people and harassing women, besides being unparalleled experts in corruption.
He further said that alternate political party that can match the Congress in the State at present is the BJP.
Till today the Congress has not done anything worthwhile for the betterment of the State which is the most important function of any government.
Little or nothing of the developmental funds sanctioned from the Centre to the State have not reached the people. Most of the Central schemes have disappeared into thin air, he also claimed.
It is very unfortunate that on the day of the beginning of full Budget Session of 2016-17, the Governor has not mentioned a single clarification on the corruption practiced by the State government, he lamented.
He said that there are lots of differences between the approach to the Budget by Central government led by BJP and the State Congress government’s budget in practice. The Centre has emphasis maximum budget allocation and focus towards promoting Agriculture and Allied sector in country.
But in our State the only priority given are to the government departments held by the Chief Minister, Chaoba alleged.
This practice is meant to drain public money without executing any developmental works the funds are meant for.
What happened to the huge budget laid aside for setting up a heavy fuel generator for supply power at Leimakhong. Not a single bulb has been lit by power from that plant till today, he said.
Many Prime Minister flagship programmes and schemes like the NREGA have flopped in the State because concerned officials and ministers of the State government have pocketed the money by doing work only on paper and not on the ground, he said. Yet Manipur government’s deception is such that Manipur was conferred various national awards for these fake works.
The government also claimed it will implement Food security Act from April of this year, but this must be a good way for siphoning off money.
He said the Congress party has no right to delay the upcoming IMC election schedule for the last week of May and first week of June 2016.
Now the BJP has two MLAs, ADC Members Municipality Councilors unlike in previous years when the party had none.
He assured the people that in the upcoming IMC, maximum seats will go to the BJP. He said only the BJP can work for the betterment of Manipur’s future.
BJP MLA Bishwajit, said Congress and corruption are two sides of the same coin. The simple example, he said, is Manipur now has more than seven lakhs unemployment youth.
He said that during the UPA government at the Centre there has been no progress made in alleviating poverty in Manipur.
By contrast, he said the Modi government has taken up various schemes for skill development.
He said that RK Shivachandra is the perfect candidate for the Keishamthong Constituency and the people of the constituency as well as all of us in Manipur need persons like him.
Congress party is now a rootless big tree after the Congress fell at the Centre, he claimed.
Ibobi government has only blamed insurgents for the law and order breakdown but the fact is the creator of all the problems is the failure of the State government to use Central funds honestly in developmental work in Manipur.
