IMPHAL, March 5: The District and Sessions Judge, Imphal West, today scheduled March 21 as the next hearing date for petition made by Th Herojit to give his ‘full and true disclosure’, in connection to the killing of Th Sanjit in a fake encounter on July 23, 2009.

Prior to the fixation of the hearing date the Court today sought objection, if any, from counsels of the co-accused of Herojit and CBI, with regards to the plea made by him. However with none of parties in the case submitting their objection the hearing was scheduled on March 21.

Herojit filed the petition as criminal miscellaneous case number 20 of 2016 Reference Session Trial number 7 of 2010 on February 2016.

In the meantime, the Court also scheduled the hearing of another petition filed by Ch Taratombi, mother of Th Sanjit, in connection with the same case, to be heard the same day (March 21).

Ch Taratombi, today submitted a petition before the District and Sessions Judge, Imphal West (under section 137 (8)) pleaded the court for directing the CBI to cause further investigation of the criminal case under FIR No. RCIMPH2010-S0001(RC.1 (A)2010/IMPHH/CBI Fire number on the basis of extra judicial confession made by accused Thounaojam Herojit Singh in the killing of Chungkham Sanjit Singh on July 23, 2009.

The petition was filed subsequent upon the suggestion made by a division Bench of High Court of Manipur comprising Chief Justice LK Mohapatra and Justice Kh Nobin stating that it would be better and proper if the petition is filed at Sessions Court, Imphal West, where the trial for July 23 BT road fake encounter case is underway.

Taratombi approached the High Court following failure of the CBI to take up any measure despite having petitioned the agency (CBI), for further investigation of the killing of her son based on Herojit’s confession.

In today’s proceedings, eight accused of the July 23 fake encounter case physically appeared before the court except Herojit failed to turn up following his poor health condition.

It is pertinent to note with the main case (charge sheet framed by CBI) and another two miscellaneous cases filed by Herojit and Sanjit’s mother, there are three cases pending before the court in connection with the July 23 BT road fake encounter case.
