BISHNUPUR, March 7: The two days National Environment Awareness Campaign 2014-15 organized by Apunba Mahei Shanglen (AMS) Ishok under the theme ‘’Combating Desertification, Land Degradation and Draught’’ at Ishok Maning Primary School, Bishnupur district concluded today.
Headmaster of Ishok Maning Primary School H Manaoyaima Singh; president of AMS H Bidhu and secretary of Yaiphanaba Kangleipakee Oiba Lup (Yaiphakol) Ishok L Nirmala Devi attended the valedictory function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Attending as resource persons, secretary of AMS H Basantakumar and assistant secretary of Peoples Resource Development Association Dr H Romen who is also the Bishnupur correspondent of Imphal Free Press spoke on the theme.
Around 100 saplings of varieties of trees were planted at the school campus as part of the campaign which was organized under the sponsorship of Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India.
Bharat Sevak Samaj Manipur State Branch also organized a day-long National Environment Awareness Campaign at Nongmaikhong Community Hall, Bishnupur today with ex-Pradhan of Kha Thinungei Gram Panchayat S Budhi and ex-serviceman N Ibotomba attending as chief guest and president respectively.
Environmentalist Dr RK Ranjan as resource person spoke on the occasion.
In connection with the programme, around 100 tree saplings were distributed to the participants.
On the other hand, the two-day National Environment Awareness Campaign organized by Yaiphakol at Ishok Mamang Primary School also ended today.
The concluding day was marked by plantation of around 100 tree saplings at the school campus.
