KANGPOKPI, March 1: The Kuki Students’ Organization, Sadar Hills (KSO-SH) has strongly opposed the decision of National Sports University Construction Demand Committee (NSUCDC) to construct the Sports University at Senjam Chirang Koutruk Khunou,
Thangminlen Kipgen, president of KSO Sadar Hills at the outset made elucidation to the NSUCDC that the proposed site for construction of Sports University at Senjam Chirang Koutruk Khonou belongs to L. Tangnaum, earlier known as Haraothel village.
He continued that L. Tangnaum village is indisputably under Saitu-Gamphazol Sub -Division in Sadar Hills District Administration which regularly pays hill house tax from Saitu-Gamphazol block.
He said that the organization had earlier censured the land offered by Koutruk, Senjam Khunou & Senjam Chirang Development Organization to the State government for construction of the Sports University.
He further said that it was only with the intention of acquiring the land of Sadar Hills under the administrative jurisdiction of Imphal West that the land of L. Tangnaum village has been repeatedly offered free of cost in the name of sports university.
As the NSUCDC is committed to meet the construction of Sports University at 44-Yaithabi Loukon despite stiff opposition which may also lead to large scale casualties, the KSO-SH is also committed to the tendency if it is constructed at the proposed land of L. Tangnaum village, Thangminlen Kipgen said.
“Why the land owners or Sadar Hills civil bodies were not invited in the joint meeting of 29 civil bodies regarding the matter”, he asked, adding that the State government must not accept the decision of the civil bodies.
He made it clear that no civil organizations except civil bodies of Sadar Hills have the right to offer the land of L. Tangnaum which some allegedly claimed as the land of Koutruk for construction of Sports University.
Every proposal for the construction of Sports University at L. Tangnaum land is intentionally made only to snatch the land of Sadar Hills. The people of Sadar Hills will never tolerate such evil intention, he said.
He urged the government not to take up any action plan as per the wish of some vested interest organizations in connection with the sports university construction at any disputed land.
The student body rather offers the State government to acquire the required land for the proposed sports university at any site whether it be near Trans Asian Highway or in the interior site within Sadar Hills where there are no disputes and no objection if it really wants to construct in the hill district.
