IMPHAL, March 11: The Naga People’s Front (NPF) today organised a one day political conference at the indoor stadium of Tamenglong.
Prominent leaders of Naga People’s Front (NPF) including Awangbou Newmei, president Manipur Unit, ST Beton, vice president Manipur unit, ADC members from Ukhrul, Chandel and Tamenglong, State functionaries of the State unit attended the conference.
ST Beton, vice president Manipur Unit appealed to the people of Tamenglong to realise that the NPF is not underground party as perceived by many but regional political party.
He called on the Nagas to support NPF to help it spread in good sense before adding that Naga people should embrace the party.
Namsinrei Panmei, chairman ADC Tamenglong speaking on the occasion appealed to all the people of Tamenglong to vote for NPF in the forthcoming Assembly election.
Awangbou Newmai, NPF president Manipur unit, in his speech, underlining backwardness of Tamenglong in every aspect, attributed it to lack of competent leaders or representatives to voice for the peoples’ plight.
He pointed out that there are three individuals at the present government representing the districts including the Deputy Chief Minister and two other MLAs, yet the general populace of the district continues to reel under apathy, he stated.
He also lengthily speaks about the Naga Peace Accord and problems faced by general public, development funds and response of the State government.
Felicitation to the new members including B Thambou, Member ADC Houchong Segment, Charles Liangdiyang, Member ADC Old Tamenglong and Adim Panmei, Ex- Executive Member ADC Akhui Segment. The oath taking was administered by Awangbou Newmei, President Manipur Unit.
