THOUBAL, March 8: There is only deprivation in the hills and as the demands and complaints are not looked into, bandhs are frequent, claimed Naga People’s Front Manipur State unit president Awangbou Newmai said today.
Newmai was speaking at a one day political conference organized by the party at the Indoor Stadium of the Chandel District Headquarter.
He said the hills want change, development and justice.
He further claimed that other than some grade IV staff, none of the other staff are present in most offices in the district Headquarters, sub-divisional Headquarters.
He continued the roads constructed by the British are still being used in the hills.
ADC Chandel member Ksm Mathew said the NPF is a platform to provide support on any political issue which surfaces in the movement for Naga unification.
NPF Manipur State unit vice president Ts Beton who had joined the party from BJP said he had joined the BJP thinking that he will be able to work for the upliftment of Chandel.
Unfortunately none of his appeals were heard, he claimed and added that he joined the NPF as being a Naga he wanted development of the Nagas by working together among the Nagas.
Chandel MLA ST Nunglung who has submitted his resignation to the Assembly said the NPF MLAs who are elected persons are considered as unarmed NSCN.
Claiming that no Naga has though of disturbing the integrity of Manipur, he said it was the Meiteis who are creating the disturbances among themselves.
Today’s programme was also attended by NPF legislature party leader L Dikho, Chandel Division president Ts Molarshing, vice president Shemy Sakil, NPF Manipur State unit working president Solomon Vieno, general secretaries Huareikhui Kashang, Robert Maram, among others.
