IMPHAL, March 4: Womenfolk of Nagaram on Friday staged a peaceful protest demanding immediate arrests of the culprits involved in the death of SDPO Nehemiah and a suitable job for his family.
The protest was organised by the JAC formed in connection with the death at the Khuman Lampak Dingku Road.
Several persons poured in to share the grief of the bereaved family.
The protestors also held placards reading “Live and Let live”, “No barbaric killing in my peaceful village”.
They also held placards demanding the arrest and punishment of the culprits.
Other demands raised by the JAC include compensation for the bereaved family and befitting punishment for the culprits.
It may be mentioned that civil organisations like Tangkhul Katamnao Long Imphal (TKLI), Tangkhul Peoples Organisation Imphal (TPOI), Imphal Tangkhul Shanao Long (ITSL), Nagaram Village Authority (VA) had submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh demanding immediate inquiry/inquest to ascertain the exact cause of death, arrests and compensate and provide job to the next of kin.
