IMPHAL, Mar 16: The Transport directorate has informed the general public that all the motor vehicle owners including the Central/ State governments as well as their undertakings in particular that the life span of a motor vehicle registered in the State of Manipur or brought from outside the State for use in the State has been fixed at fifteen years except for cases of vintage and those vehicles with sound mechanical condition to be certified by the competent authority for renewal of another five years only subject to levy of prescribed rates of token tax and green tax as revised from time to time.
A notification issued by commissioner (transport) M Lakshmikumar Singh said that this is issued in pursuance of the cabinet decision taken in its meeting on August 8, 2015 and as per the provision of section 41 (7) (10) of the MV act, 1988. The notification shall come into force throughout the State from the date of publication in the Manipur extraordinary gazette, he added.
