IMPHAL, March 1: Despite of all the precautionary measures taken up by the concerned department and authorities for the free and fair conduct of the board exams, several malpractices are still observed in the exam centres especially in those outside Imphal.

An authorised flying scout team of Democratic Students’ Union Manipur and the Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Singpanglup today caught students in several centres using cheat notes during the first day of the Board of Secondary Education Manipur conducted High School Leaving Certificate Examination today.

The student organisations’ team had conducted inspections at Heirok Private Centre, Wangjing Private Centre, Khongjom Private Centre and Khangabok Private Centre.

Speaking to media persons at the DESAM office, spokesperson of the two organisations E Edison said students were seen openly cheating in various centres and sometimes even the invigilators were found helping the students.

Inspite of all the campaigns and steps undertaken to refrain helpers outside the exam centre pass on chits to the students, many parents, guardians and relatives were openly running to help their wards sitting inside the centres, he added.

This is unfortunate, he said, appealing to the BOSEM and the department to take more stringent steps to stop the conduct of unfair means.

He further appealed to the parents, guardians, relatives and friends to help in developing the students become a good human being rather than someone with just good academic records.
