U.S. Consul General in state to give new push to baseball diplomacy

IMPHAL, March 9: The U.S. Consul General, Craig Hall, on his first visit to Manipur, will interact with young players and coaches of the Manipur Amateur Baseball Association (MABA) and deliver a brief remark as part of his cultural outreach at the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, National Sports Academy Stadium tomorrow at 3.45pm, a release of the US Consulate, Kolkata media coordinator said.

Hall will kick-off a friendly baseball match between young players who have in 2013 participated in a Baseball Coaching Camp lead by American sports envoy and Major League Baseball Hall-of-Famers, Joe Logan, Barry Larkin and Natasha Watley, the statement said.

It said this goodwill sports diplomacy is part of the U.S. Department of State’s public diplomacy efforts.

This particular U.S. Consulate Kolkata outreach embraces the use of baseball and softball to bring people together, foster greater understanding, and empower youth worldwide, it further said.
