IMPHAL, April 6: The 4th State Level Aquarium Exhibition-cum-Flower Show which commenced on March 31 concluded today at the Manipur Science Aquarium, DM College.
The show was jointly organized by the Manipur Science & Technology Council and Aquarium & Floriculture Entrepreneurs and supported by National Council for Science & Technology Communications, Department of Sconce & Technology, Government of India.
Speaking at the function as chief guest, former principal of DM College, Ng Brajakumar Singh said that the State Government needs to give attention to the floriculturist to enhance the economic growth of Manipur.
The Government of Manipur didn’t give any attention for the development of floriculturist, despite the fact that the number of floriculture and flower-lovers have only increased in the State due to globalization.
He appealed to the Government of Manipur to provide grant-in-aid to support the effort to develop floriculture in the State.
Brajakumar further said that fishes of the State are delicious as compare to those from other outside, but now days the fishes available for consumption here are mostly imported from other states.
Today the State is unable to produce sufficient quantity of fish for our own consumption, he said.
He continued at the sometime, some fishes which are more delicious as compare to other local fishes have become endangered while some have gone extinct.
We need to take some important steps for the protection and preservation of the local fishes and also increase production of fishes in Manipur, he added.
During the valedictory function, prizes were distributed to respective winners of the painting completion held in connection with the 4th State Level Aquarium Exhibition-cum- Flowers Show.
