IMPHAL, Apr 1: The 24 hours State-wide bandh clamped by All Manipur Police Constable Male 2013 Batch from yesterday midnight in pursuit of their demand crippled normal life in Thoubal district.
A large number of bandh supporters came out since early morning and blocked roads at Thoubal Kiyam Siphai, Thoubal Moijing and Yairipok Bridge by burning tyres. They also disrupted vehicular and pedestrian movement along the roads.
There were few people gathered at the busy Thoubal, Yairipok and Kakching Markets due to the bandh.
Though government offices remained opened, rate of attendance of employees was low.
The bandh was called in protest against the government’s failure to hold viva-voice for candidates of Thoubal and Imphal West, who have already passed written test for the recruitment of 2000 Manipur Police Constables in 2013.
