It is also learnt that the party has decided that submission of application forms by those seeking party ticket will be May 8 and forms will be issued till April 26.
The party has also decided to constitute a 15-member state election management committee which will also have a member each from the eight ACs where election will be held. It will also constitute a 27-member state-level election campaign committee with the State BJP president as the chairman, informed the source.
It was also resolved to appoint senior and experienced leaders from the constituencies as in-charge of every AC along with one co-in charge for each ward.
The meeting also decided to form another five member committee to identify the party’s agenda of the ensuing IMC election 2016, it said.
Speaking to media persons, general secretary Administration M Asnikumar said that the BJP is targeting to maintain the upward graph it had gained during the last elections in the State.
He said the party is hopeful of a major win as till now atleast 4-5 persons are seeking party tickets in most wards of the IMC.
This is a sign of the party’s emergence, he added.
He added the results of the recent Assam State Assembly election will be declared on May 19 and will bear a huge impact on the IMC election in Manipur.
He claimed that under the Congress government, the elected members of the IMC have been reduced to just namesakes without any real power which has resulted in the deteriorating condition of Imphal city.
