In a similar programme, this morning the DC and other officials met with the editors of Manipur Express, Lamka Post, Zougam Today and Hmasawna Thar, ADC Churachandpur EM CT Lian and district correspondents of Imphal based English papers including the IFP, Sangai Express and Eimi Times at Saulim Restaurant, New Lamka, Churachandpur.
The main issues discussed during the meeting include matters related to cyber crime, whatsapp abuse and NFSA – National Food Security Act.
A consensus decision was arrived at the end of the conference to do something to check the uncensored and unmonitored visual clips shown on local cable networks, defamatory and hearsay posts on social media.
The program was the brain child of the DC.
Speaking at the discussion, the DC highlighted that the purpose of the gathering was to check the ever increasing cyber crime rate including abuse of social media in Churachandpur District where the use of mobile phone is very high and those who access the internet through the mobile is also high.
The programme was also attended by the District Supply Officer who spoke on the issue of the recently launched National Food Security Act.
Meanwhile, the participants also suggested to the DC to organise mass awareness programmes in the coming month on which the DC instructed his assistant commissioner to do the needful.
CT Lian Guite and others also suggested to the DC’s team that action should be taken under IT Act against those misusing the internet and put them behind bars as exemplary to those people who thinks that they can post anything they wanted even at the cost of someone else’s right and liberty.
“The policy of the government on NFSA was a good one and to think that rice will be procured at Rs.3 per KG in a dream come true , out of 2.7 lakh people in Churachandpur district alone, 87 percent will benefit under this scheme but we have to be honest to ourself and those who get more than Rs 100000 per annum, as the Act indicate, shouldn’t apply or try to avail the benefit” CT Lian continued.
As regards to NFSA, the district administration requested to the print media to spread awareness of the targeted beneficiary.
