IMPHAL, April 22: The BJP Manipur Pradesh will not take yesterday’s Moirang incident lightly and if necessary will move the court, BJP Manipur president Th Chaoba asserted today.
Chaoba told media persons, the BJP will take help of the court if the State DGP fails to take punitive action against the policemen who assaulted BJP workers and councilors at the Moirang SDO office.
Addressing a press conference at his office this afternoon, the State BJP president said it is unfortunate that MLAs are taking such keen interest in the issuing of beneficiary cards for the Food Security Act.
He said the six BJP councilors of Moirang Municipal Council were assaulted by the police allegedly trying to control a tension which erupted due to the interference of the local MLA in distribution of FSA crads.
Interference of MLAs in distribution of Food Security cards is unfortunate, he said condemning yesterday’s incident.
Since the new CAF and PD minister announced to implement the Act from April 25, distribution of beneficiary cards are being conducted at various places, he said.
He suggested if the MLAs want so much in interfere in distribution of ration cards or FSA cards they should try to contest in the council or pradhan election.
A written complaint has been submitted to the DGP demanding action against the policemen involved in the assault of BJP councilors, and if he fails to take action we will move the court, he reiterated. He said an FIR should be registered against the policemen and the case should be handed over to the CID crime branch for further investigation.
Chaoba further demanded that to clear all doubts on the issue of FSA implementation in the State, the government should produce a white paper at the earliest.
The BJP Manipur Pradesh is also taking the issue of the CBI chargesheet against Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh’s nephew O Henry in a drug related case, he asserted.
He further demanded that Chief Minister O Ibobi resign from the post on moral grounds.
