IMPHAL, April 9: A Chinese hand grenade was found this early morning around 6 inside the Mayai Lambi Service Station oil pump compound at Hiyangthang under Wangoi Police Station.
The grenade was recovered by a Wangoi police team led by OC Ibochouna and later disposed at around 7:05am at a place at Hiyangthang Tarahei Konjil.
Meanwhile, condemning the placing of a grenade at the service station, working staff of the oil pump said people work day and night there.
Staffs said the violent threat is really unfortunate.
One of the staff speaking to media persons said that on April 4, two unidentified persons came in a motorbike and handed a piece of paper with a phone number scribbled to a staff and hurried away.
Thinking that it was a mischief, none of the staff called the phone number and this morning when the caretaker opened the gate found the hand grenade, he said.
He said such violent threat is unfortunate.
The doors are wide open for any dialogue on any issue, but leaving a grenade is unfortunate as it creates a panic in the area.
He further appealed to those involved to identify themselves.
