IMPHAL, April 5: Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and Deputy CM Gaikhangam have left the capital for New Delhi today to join the newly appointed president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) TN Haokip in meeting with All India Congress Committee (AICC) leaders tomorrow to discuss the demand made by dissident Congress MLAs for a cabinet reshuffle.
TN Haokip who replaced Gaikhangam as the new president of MPCC had already reached the national capital yesterday.
Sources said the three leaders will be meeting with top brass of AICC including its president Sonia Gandhi during which they will try to bring a decisive stand on the ministry reshuffle demand under ‘’One Man One Post’’ principle.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that some MLAs amongst the dissident group held a lengthy meeting with CM and Dy CM this evening prior to the latter’s departure.
After the meeting, the two leaders also met with some opposition MLAs over the demand put up by the dissident group.
Mention may be made that the dissident Congress MLAs have been demanding reshuffle of Speaker and 10 ministerial posts and replace them by MLAs amongst the dissident group.
Paying heed to the demand, AICC leaders had assured to replace some ministerial posts but the number of posts to be replaced is yet to be ascertained.
