IMPHAL, April 11: The Congress government which is busy with the reshuffle issue has never shown seriousness on the public issues, which led to the ugly tension in Mayang Imphal, claimed BJP Manipur president Th Chaoba.
Calling a press conference today at his party office, Chaoba said if the State government had taken the incident with seriousness and look into the demands of the JAC which had set an April 10 deadline, then the incident would not have happened.
He said during the tension at Mayang Imphal, both the public and the police were injured.
At the same time, it is unfortunate that some individuals are spreading rumours through the social media to fuel communal tension, he added.
He further appealed to the people against spreading rumours.
He said the people from the various communities should co-exist in a peaceful and united manner.
The government should be held responsible for the tension, he said.
He said the BJP has appealed to the MoS Home Kiren Rijiju this afternoon to intervene and send CRPF para military force to the area.
He said according to reports the situation has been brought under control by the State force as well as CRPF.
He further appealed to the people not to recreate the communal clashes of the 1990’s.
The State BJP has called a meeting on April 14 to discuss the potential party candidates for the IMC election, he added.
The meeting will be attended by mandal leaders of Thangmeiband, Uripok, Keishamthong, Singjamei, Wangkhei and some parts of Lamshang AC, he said.
