IMPHAL, April 12: Alleging that India under its divide and rule policy has been spewing venom to create animosity and hatred between different communities in the State since the last many years, Co-ordination Committee (CorCom), a conglomerate of several armed outfits has issued a statement vehemently condemning the riot between two communities at Mayang Imphal Konchaak Makha Leikai, Imphal West on April 11.
The statement signed by its media coordinator Ksh Yoiheiba expressed shock over the incident that erupted over enforcement of a bandh against the alleged snatching of money from a Meitei Pangal by police commando who also badly assaulted the man.
The incident left more than 30 people injured and many houses were torched, this is one of the darkest incidents in the history of the land, it said.
The statement said CorCom strongly stands against communal acts and mob justice which have been happening every now and then in the land.
It appealed to the concerned leaders of different communities to shoulder responsibilities to avoid such unwarranted incidents in future.
Suspecting hands of Indian intelligence under the influence of some vested organizations in many communal incidents took place in the State in the last few years, CorCom appealed to the different communities in the State to not spark such communal incident in the future, and instead to unite to safeguard the integrity of the State.
