IMPHAL, April 12: The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyala Khumbong celebrated 30th Foundation Day of Navodaya Vidyala Samiti, as part of all India observance, at its multipurpose auditorium hall under the theme ‘Celebrating 30 years of Success here today.
Speaking as the chief guest of the celebration, Nidhi Dwivedi, IPS, Officer-in-Charge of Patsoi Police Station encouraged the students to strive for success as a true Navodayan. She said she was genuinely impressed by the track record of JNV Khumbong in particular, which encompasses different fields in education. “I am mesmerised having seen the songs and dance performance by the students. Some of them can excel in these fields if they pursue”, she said.
Nidhi continued that it has been her first time to be present in a Navodaya Vidyala function after assuming charge as an officer. “I have heard a lot about the excellence of JNV schools and today’s experience has been testimony in itself. Thirty long years of success story is indeed a glorious journey”, she said before adding that students must learn to be obedient and take responsibility to achieve success.
Kishorjit Nongmeikapam, Asst Professor at Manipur Institute of Technology, Imphal, who is also the secretary of the Alumni Association of JNV Khumbong in his deliberation shared his experience of a young Navodayan then, which was filled with tears and joy, as a student of early batch. “Each moment was a learning experience for me, and as well as for my fellow Navodayans. One thing we particularly learned from this campus is our sense of brotherhood and belonging in a family called Navodaya, which we still cherished till today even after we left”, he said.
It may be mentioned that Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti was set up under the New Policy on Education, 1986, as per the initiative of Ministry of Human Resource, government of India. Since its inception of the NV Samiti, under the said ministry, altogether 598 JNV schools have been sanctioned. JNV Khumbong, Imphal west was established in 1998, a forerunner among the JNV schools in the Northeast. The occasion was also graced by representatives of Parents Teachers Committee, teaching and non-teaching staff of the school, alumni members, which was marked by various performance like song, dance and poetry recitation by the students.
