CHURACHANDPUR, April 11: Accused in the Pampha Rai killing case, P Jemson’s appearance before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Churachandpur today was delayed till the late afternoon, after members and supporters of the JAC formed against the incident mobbed the court complex.
The JAC members and supporters who came all the way from the 2nd Manipur Rifles Family Lane numbered around 100.
The police managed to bring the accused amidst tight security before the judge only around 4:30 pm after the Churachandpur SP Mangkhogin Haokip spoke with the JAC.
Speaking to media persons after the accused was brought out from the court room, a leader of the JAC Rasi said they are demanding punishment not just of the accused but his parents who were conspirators in the crime.
She said the parents had agreed to the engagement of the accused and the victim even though their son was married and had a son.
Sources said the accused and the victim came to know each other while working together at the Tata Motors show room in Imphal and had been in a relationship since some years back.
Meanwhile, the JAC members and supporters tried to attack the accused as he was being led into the court room, however, they were overpowered and almost outnumbered by the police led by Churachandpur Police OC inspector Thangzamuan, who later transported the accused to Imphal to be put behind bars.
It may be mentioned that the accused had surrendered himself before the Bishnupur police after allegedly killing his girlfriend in a room inside Venus Hotel in Gouchinkhup Veng, Churachandpur.
A JAC leader said “We want justice for the victim, and all those involved should also be punished befittingly.”
We will continue to agitate until justice is delivered, the leader said.
Pampha Rai was found dead hanging inside the bathroom of Hotel Venus in Churachandpur on April 2.
