IMPHAL, April 9: The JAC formed in connection with the alleged killing of Pampha Rai and her family members have demanded the authorities concerned to award severe punishment for the culprit in Pampha’s killing.
The demand was raised during a press meet held today at the Manipur Press Club.
It may be mentioned that 31 year old Pampha, daughter of Dutt Bahadur of the 2nd Manipur Rifles was found dead on April 2 inside the bathroom of a room at Hotel Venus in Churachandpur.
P Jameson Singh, 35 son of Rikendrajit Singh of Langjing Achouba Mamang Leikai who is the main suspect in the killing case had surrendered himself before the Bishnupur Police and is presently under remand of the Churachandpur Police for further investigation.
However, the JAC and the family are yet to accept the body which is still lying at the RIMS mortuary. JAC president L Shyam Singh said unless the parents of the accused are taken into police custody for investigation, they will not accept the body.
Speaking at the press conference, Pampha’s mother said that they had believed the Jameson to be a good man and had even engaged their daughter to him on January 10, 2015.
However, he did the unthinkable by killing Pampha in an inhumane manner, she cried.
She further urged the authorities concerned to award him severe punishment.
Shyam said that Pampha and Jameson had been courting for around three-years. They met at the Tiddim Motors where they were working together and continued their courtship even after Pampha shifted to MGT and Jameson to Tata Tiscon, he added.
On the fateful day, Jameson had picked up Pamphai from her residence in the morning around 8 as usual, he said.
Later in the day, her family was informed that Pamphai was found dead inside a hotel in Churachandpur, he added.
He continued the JAC had found during investigation that Jameson was already married and has a son.
Shyam further appealed to the concerned authorities to pick up the Jameson’s parents for concealing the truth that Jameson was married even after their engagement.
He continued unless the parents are taken into police custody, they will not accept the body. He further appealed to the concerned authority to serve the culprit with severe punishment.
