RPF appeals to all to attend ‘Athoubasinggi Numit’

IMPHAL, April 11: Paying homage to the armed cadres who sacrificed their lives fighting against the colonial rule to regain independence of the kingdom, the proscribed Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) has appealed to the people to offer floral tributes at the memorial cenotaph erected at Cheiraoching on the occasion of ‘’Athoubasinggi Numit’’ on April 13.

In a press statement signed by Secretary Publicity, RPF Roben Khuman, the outfit said ‘’Athoubasinggi Numit’’ is observed in remembrance of the unforgettable April 13, 1990 incident.

The present sorry status of Manipur is fallout of the annexeture of the kingdom with the ‘communal’ country, India in 1949. The outfit is of the firm belief that there is no other way other than to pursue revolutionary movement to fetch back the loss independence from the hands of the colonial rule, it said.

India in the name of democracy has been committing series of human rights violations overrunning international laws, the outfit alleged, adding that the enforcement of the draconian Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA), 1958 in the State is a clear example to prove the brutality of the colonial rule.

Pledging to carry forward the armed revolutionary movement till the kingdom’s independence is regained, RPF further appealed to the people to lit up light in every localities in evening of the day and abstain from organizing entertainment programmes except religious rituals on the day.
