IMPHAL, April 12: A group of villagers of Napet Palli today claimed that the students of the Napet Palli Mamang Leikai Primary School were denied access to the school ever since the government turned the school building to a designated camp of the United Revolutionary Front of Manipur (Ngangom Soviet alias Chingkheingamba faction) in May 2014.
Speaking to media persons at the Manipur Press Club today, one of the villagers said the whole compound of the school was fenced and occupied by the outfit denying the students to enter the school.
He said “Six teachers were posted there but all the rooms were occupied by the outfit and the school turned into an intimidating sight.”
A public meeting with several CSOs of the State was held on April 11 in the village ground and the participants collectively resolved to demand the Government of Manipur to shift the designated camp outside the Lamlai Constituency within three days.
The villagers also demanded the State government to clarify on the issue of the new recruitment of the same group even after signing the Suspension of Operation with the government.
While negating all the claims issued through the media in the aftermath of the April 8 incident by the URF (Ngangom Soviet alias Chingkheingamba faction) spokesperson of the JAC Demanding for the Shifting of URF Chingkheingamba Group from Napet Palli, Sarat Khubammayum said the public has been witnessing harassment and intimidation meted out to the people for the last two years by the cadres of the outfit.
