UNLF clarifies on bomb attack

IMPHAL, Apr 11: The banned United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has categorically clarified that Yengkhom Ananda who was severely thrashed by a mob for carrying out bomb attack at the residence of Dr Meisnam Amuba, Medical Superintendent RIMS at Thangmeiband Lairenhanjaba Leikai on April 10 night around 8.20, is not related to the outfit and its armed wing MPA in any form.

The outfit in a statement signed by its Director, Department of Publicity M Sakhen further clarified that the outfit has no connection with the bomb attack.

However, it admitted that Y Anandajit alias Palemngakpa son of Y Tomba of Pallel Mamang Leikai joined the outfit’s armed wing MPA in 1997 (Service No 664) and received basic military training.

The statement said Anandajit without informing the outfit left for his home in 2006 after which he was declared as deserter.

Therefore, he is not related to the outfit and its armed wing anymore, it stated.

UNLF appealed to its ex-cadres who got retired with and without the consent of the outfit, former members and deserters to not indulge in any act which can tarnish the party’s image.

If any of the individuals came to found indulging in such acts then stringent punishment will be awarded against whomsoever, the outfit in the statement cautioned.
