65 pc clears HSE, merit list to return in 2017

IMPHAL, May 12: Minister Education & Transport Dr Kh Ratan Kumar Singh today officially announced the results of the Higher Secondary Examination 2016 at the premises of Council of Higher Secondary Examination, Manipur located at Babupara, Imphal.

On the occasion Dr Ratan also announced that from the next examination to be conducted in 2017, results will be announced on merit basis as it was before. Grading system was introduced in the state 2013. He mentioned that candidates achieving 80% and above of the total marks will be felicitated with letter of distinction.

HSE exam 2016 was held from February 22 to March 21 in 68 different examination centres which included 26 Government and 42 Private centres. For smooth conduct of the examination 46 micro observers, an inspection team of 50 persons and 61 supervisors were utilised.

Closed Circuit Television at 20 different exams centres were also installed for the first time on experimental basis.

Dr Ratan further mentioned that altogether 27,238 candidates enrolled for the examination but 26,934 candidates actually appeared; 17 students were expelled and results withheld for 5 students.

Out of 26,934 students the number of students passed is 17,566, which is 65.22 in pass percentage.

Passing percentage of Arts stream is 60.09, Science is 67.11 and Commerce is 58.25. It may be mentioned here that last year pass percentage was 61.09.

Congratulating all the successful students, Minister Education said that the results will be the guideline for their future career.

The occasion was also attended by Chairman Council of Higher Secondary Education C Arthur W; Principal Secretary, Education T Vaiphei; Director Education (S) N Pradip singh and Secretary of the council Dr M Bidyasagar.
