BJP names Ksh Bhabananda new State president

IMPHAL, May 2: The race to the post of the BJP Manipur Pradesh president has ended today with the party’s national leaders replacing Chaoba, whose term was extended until further notice after it got expired in December last year, with Kshetrimayum Bhabananda Singh being appointed the party’s State chief today.

According to a press release issued by the office of MP Prahlad Singh Patel who is also in charge of BJP Manipur, BJP national president Amit Shah convened a meeting with BJP national organisational general secretary Ram Lal in the presence of BJP national general secretary and in-charge of BJP North East Ram Madhav and MP and in-charge of BJP Manipur Prahlad Singh Patel and came up as a collective decision to appoint Ksh. Bhabananda Singh as state president of Manipur State with immediate effect .

The central leadership insisted Th Chaoba Singh to take new assignment as convener of State Election Management Committee Manipur BJP, it said.

An official order from the national general secretary Arun Singh said national BJP president Amit Shah has appointed Ksh Bhabananda Sharma as new president of BJP Manipur Pradesh today and Th Chaoba Singh has been appointed convener of State Election Management Committee, Manipur BJP with immediate effect.

In an interview at his Waheng Leikai residence today, the newly appointed State president said he was really happy that the national leaders have shown confidence in him by appointing him the BJP Manipur president.

Bhabananda said he is just a worker of the party and have not even contested the election before.

He said he will work from the grass-root level for the welfare of the party.

Although the post will bring many challenges, he will try his best to fulfil his new responsibilities, he added.

“The upcoming IMC election will be my first acid test as the president of BJP,” he said.

“Winning the election is his first target,” Bhabananda said.

He further said that there is no division in the party and that he firmly believes the workers will fully support him.
