The Coordinating Body on Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee (CBSTDC) has invited suggestions and feedbacks from Civil Society Organisations, Club, Organizations, Associations and public over the ongoing demand for inclusion of Meetei/Meitei to the list of Scheduled Tribe as per Article 342 (1) of the Constitution of India.
In a release by Waikhom Ananda Meetei, Convenor of CBSTDC said that the demand for Scheduled Tribe status of Meetei/Meitei is not for one organizations or a group of people; the committee welcomes all the positive criticisms and comments except for comments which are malicious in nature.
Ananda also expressed gratitude to people, groups and bodies that extend co-operations to CBSTDC in its demand for ST status for Meetei/Meitei people of Manipur.
While appealing all to organize public functions, seminars and discussions on the issue and create mass awareness among the people in large, the Convenor informed that after receiving all the feedbacks, suggestions and criticisms from different sections of the society, the Committee would publicly announce their statement through press/media on May 17, 2016.
He also requested all to refrain from providing negative suggestions or comments that target the CBSTDC with an ill intention to malign the movement.
