KANGPOKPI, May 12: Vehemently decrying the claims of JAC Shantipur against the Shooting of Rakesh Saha, Thadou civil bodies have warned it to make its intention clear over the deployment of Commandos in Sadar Hills.
Thadou bodies including Thadou Students’ Association, Thadou Youth Association and Thadou Women Association on Wednesday held a joint meeting at Motbung and expressed their deep disappointment over the JAC Shantipur alleged ‘communal statement’ and censured the claiming of Inspection Bungalow at Gamgiphai as belonging to Imphal West district.
Spokesperson of the Thadou bodies, Henkai Singsit stated that the Thadou bodies are not against the pressure and demand of the JAC Shantipur in booking the remaining culprits in connection with the shooting at incident of Rakesh and the demand of deploying commandos for their protection and safety.
However, the Thadou bodies and civil bodies in the Sardar Hills area will never allow and accept deployment of Commandos in Sadar Hills in particular and the entire hill districts of Manipur, asserted Henkai Singsit while adding that resisting Commandos deployment in hill district is not a new thing but the unbending stand of all hill district people since time immemorial that the Gorkha community should value.
He also stated that if the Gorkha community feels secure and safe with the state Commandos they should station them in their respective place and not in the land of Sadar Hills while elucidating that the Sadar Hill civil bodies are opposing the stationing and deployment of commandos in Sadar Hills and not in Kanglatongbi.
While strongly condemning the claiming of Inspection Bungalow at Gamgiphai as a part of Imphal West district, the Thadou bodies pointed out that the IB building is under PWD Sadar Hills and the location is rightfully under the administrative jurisdiction of Sadar Hills.
The Thadou bodies spokesperson made it clear that there is no Imphal West district during the time of British and claiming the location of IB as part of Imphal West from British period signify complete ignorance of history and facts on the part of the JAC Shantipur.
He continued that the JAC Shantipur has earlier shown enthusiasm to station the commando outpost at Kanglatongbi and even declared arrangement for their housing but when the state Government in practical decided to station the security personnel at Kanglatongbi why the JAC demanded its location at Gamgiphai land.
Therefore, the JAC should come up with their clear intention whether they demand commandos for their protection and safety or to encroach the land of Sadar Hills, asserted the Thadou bodies’ spokesperson.
He also said maintained that the Sadar Hills civil bodies censured and condemned the anti social activities of various UGs operating in the area but the accusation of only Kuki UGs involving in the anti social activities and harassment of Kanglatongbi people will be wrong while there many UGs indulging in such activities in the area.
The Thadou bodies also alleged the JAC Shantipur of inviting communal disharmony while elucidating that the objection of deploying Commandos at Gamgiphai is done not only by the Kuki people but all community living the Sadar Hills while CSOs Sadar Hills constitute all civil bodies from various community in Sadar Hills.
While demanding clarification from the JAC Shantipur over the issue at the earliest the Thadou bodies also warned that if the JAC Shantipur fails to come up with their clarification and clear intention the people of Sadar Hills will be compelled to react and the JAC Shantipur will be solely responsible for any untoward incident.
