IMPHAL, May 15 : As part of the continuous movement for implementation of Inner Line Permit System in the State, a large number of people today staged protest demonstrations and formed human chains from Yaiskul to Lilong bridge.
Joined by meira paibis of Yaiskul, Moirangkhom, Lok-laobung, Yumnam Leikai, Singjamei Supermarket, Sing-jamei Chongtham Leikai, Singjamei Thongam Leikai, Singjamei Oinam Leikai, Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai, Kakwa, Naorem Leikai, Thongju, Canchipur, Lang- thabal, Lilong, sit-ins were held and human chains were formed at their respective areas demanding that the three ILP Bills be enacted at the earliest. Meira paibis asserted that the all-party delegation should do all it can to prevail upon the Central leaders to enact the three ILP Bills.
A sit-in protest was also staged by Youth Intergration Club (YIC) and Ema Yaiphabi Nupi Lup, Keishamthong Maning Long-jam Leikai at Keisamthong Longjam Leikai. Human chain protests and sit-ins will be held tomorrow at Minuthong as well as on Imphal-Ukhrul road and Yaingangokpi.
On the other hand, the Churachandpur JAC is set to go ahead with its 48 hours total shutdown from May 16 midnight in protest against the decision of the all political parties to proceed to Delhi to eact the three Bills.
Meanwhile the JAC Against Anti-Tribals Bills would exempt medical services, water supply, media houses, postal services, telecom, electricity, airport pick-up and drop, exams, marriage ceremonies and pre-planned conferences from the purview of total shutdown in all tribal territories of the State starting May 16 midnight to May 18 midnight, informed a statement issued by the committee.
