KANGPOKPI, May 25: Police have recovered a dead body in Gundung River near Hengjang stone crusher under Sapormeina Police Station in Sadar Hills today.
According to police source, workers of Hengjang stone crusher informed Sapormeina Police about the recovery of the dead body floating in the river. Immediately, the police rushed to the spot which is located around one and half kilometer from the police station and recovered the body.
Later, the police identified the deceased as one Thangjohnson Misao, 22 son of Hemmang Misao of Pangjang village in Saikul.
The deceased was staying at his married sister’s residence at L. Simol village in Sapormeina area and worked in collection of stone chips at Gundung River on daily basis earning.
The source said that the deceased as usual involved himself in the stone chips collection today along the river but his companion could not locate him in the afternoon.
The deceased’s friends left the place when they could not find him after searching him along the river and the nearby jungle for long. They presumed that he might have gone home.
Later, the lifeless body of the deceased was found floating in the river by the workers of Hengjang stone crusher, it said.
The deceased is suspected to have a history of epilepsy but could not ascertain it till the time of filing of this report.
