IMPHAL, May 5: In solidarity to the demand made by Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) for implementation of ILPS in the State to regulate incessant influx of migrants, students of schools in Thoubal, Yairipok and Khangabok formed human chains today.
The protest demonstration was organized under the aegis of JCILPS Students’ Wing Thoubal District.
Students of Memorial Model Academy, Mehar English School, Azad Higher Secondary School, Antarctic English School, Yairipok Girls’ High School and Yairipok Junior High School formed a human chain at Yairipok Bridge by blocking the road.
While students of Somarendro Sana Higher Secondary School Thoubal, Vision Creative Thoubal Wangmataba and Abhiram Higher Secondary School staged the protest demonstration at their respective places.
Another human chain was also formed by around 4000 students of Khangabok High School, KM Blooming Higher Secondary School, Pujari High School, Wisdom Foundation and New Public Higher Secondary School near Khangabok Bazar, affecting vehicular movement along national highway.
Slogans such as ‘’Remove non-locals from the electoral roll’’, ‘’We want ILPS’’, “Implement the bills passed in the State Assembly immediately’’ were chanted by the student protestors.
