IMPHAL, May 14 In pursuit of its demand for conversion of the three bills unanimously passed during a Special Session of the State Assembly on August 31, 2015 to safeguard indigenous people into act, Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) launched different forms of agitation today also.
As declared earlier, sit-in-protests were staged by women folks in Mayai Lambi areas along Imphal-Mayang Imphal Road pressing the demand.
The protestors also formed a human chain wherein they chanted slogans such as “Covert the three bills into act”, “Put the agreement reached into action”, “Outsiders should not be allowed to contest in elections”, “Long live Manipur” etc.
However, no untoward incidents were reported during the course of the agitation.
The three bills which JCILPS has been demanding to convert into act are The Protection of Manipur People Bill, 2015; The Manipur Land Revenue & Land Reforms (Seventh Amendment) Bill, 2015 and The Manipur Shops & Establishment (Second Amendment) Bill, 2015.
