IMPHAL, May 26: Volunteers of JCILPS Women Wing today locked the office of Janata Dal (U) State unit located at Babupara. JCILPS has been protesting political parties’ inability to exert pressure on the Centre regarding enforcement of ILPS in the State. JCILPS Women Wing and Student Wing members had already tried to storm the offices of BJP Manipur Pradesh and Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC). At around 2 pm today, the womenfolk came to the office of Janata Dal (U) and locked the office amidst shouting of slogans like, ‘we want ILP’, ‘convert the three Bills into Acts’ and ‘do not allow non-locals to cast vote and contest elections in the State’. JD (U) State unit president M Tombi was also there when the womenfolk staged the demonstration. The women volunteers questioned the president why political parties have been maintaining silence on the issue and why they have not gone to New Delhi to meet the Central leaders. After a few minutes, a team of Imphal police station arrived there and took them up to Moirangkhom area.
