IMPHAL, May 23: BJP MLA from Thongju Assembly Constituency Thongam Biswajit Singh today called for cancellation of the recent Manipur Civil Services Combined Preliminary Examinations considering the reported issue of certain ambiguous instructions given to the candidates.
Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) had issued contradictory instructions to candidates regarding negative marking during the preliminary examination conducted earlier on May 15.
MLA Bishwajit said, MPSC should consider holding fresh examinations.
Speaking to media persons at his official residence at Sanjenthong Officers’ Colony, Bishwajit said the question booklet of the preliminary examination included certain ambiguous instructions as well as flawed questions.
He said that the ambiguity was explained and clarified only in some of the examination centres and not at all centres.
Elaborating on the issue he said, the first sentence of instruction No. 9, in the instruction sheet distributed to the candidates along with the question papers said “There will be no penalty for wrong answers”, while the second line said “There will be penalty for wrong answers by candidates in the objective type question papers.”
And since the matter was not explained in all examination centres, many of the candidates were left in confusion, he added.
The authorities had failed to make the clarification at Standard Robert Higher Secondary School, CC Higher Secondary, DM College of Arts and Sciences, Imphal College.
Bishwajit lambasted the MPSC for failing to inform the invigilators in all centres about the errors in the question paper.
The MCSCCE is a prestigious examination for selecting would be administrators of the State and frequent errors could only harm its reputation, he observed.
Every edition of the MPSC conducted exam have had its share of controveries, he lamented.
He even threatened to go to the HRD minister, if MPSC fails to conduct fresh examinations.
He further said that the MPSC secretary Shyamlal Poonia had openly declared that there will be no negative markings in the examination.
He said the BJP has also demanded a judicial inquiry on the exam and said there should be voice recordings of the viva-voce of the examination as there is high corruption rate in the State.
very funny.each exam center has many rooms so it is nt very true dat clarification was done in all the room…by d way the issue is nt only about correction it is also clearing d air of confusion..at TG(where i took my exam) we asked d invigilator to clarify on instruct.no.9, she said to wait for few minutes s c has no idea, after 10 to 15 minutes there came a news regarding ques correction.later,we demanded dt we know s soon s possible den c said dt there won’t b -ve fr som ques.ok ,we got dat,but after few minutes a man come in n told us dt there will b -ve.farther a lady came in n said dt there wil b no -ve…after 30 minutes of intense debate n discussion a man told us dt there wil b no -ve.atlas d invigilator told us to used our common sense..we all laugh…i did most of the ques n came ut…is that not a confusion??? is it nt a failure of mpsc?? did u find anywhere in the world where an instruction to candidates became a confusion?? from chairman to every members of mpsc nt deserved to b punished??if d highest examination of d state can create such nuisance den what about d lesser one??? shame…giving a bad image again n again..
It is better to prepare for next MCSCC Exam than to make unnecessary allegations!!! Demands by some candidates who don’t do well should not be entertained.
This is ridiculous. In DM college Arts, due announcement for corrections was made. If you ,as an elected representative, are going to lie about it to reconduct the exam, it’s very sad that people will actually go to such lowly unethical means of blatant lying to get what they want.
