“There will be no penalty for wrong answers” says Instruction No 9 of the question booklet of the Manipur Civil Services Combined Competitive Preliminary Examination 2016 conducted by MPSC on May 15.
Underneath the same question, it was written, “There will be penalty for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the objective type question papers”.
Even as the MPSC authority clarified at some exam centres that there would be no penalty, invigilators at some exam centres maintained that there would be penalty.
Invigilators who were assigned exam duties at Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, Canchipur (Room No 14), CC Hr Secondary School and Imphal College maintained that there would be penalty for wrong answers.
Fearing penalty, candidates who gave the exam at these centres could not attempt all the questions whereas candidates appearing the same exam in other centres had no reservation in attempting all the questions as they were told that there would be no penalty. Meanwhile, the JAC Against the Misconduct of MCSCC Preliminary Exam 2016 has urged the MPSC authority to re-conduct the same exam failing which all kinds of agitation would be launched.
