Nungei village under attack again

IMPHAL, May 4:The Joint Action Committee against Cruel Firing at Nungei Meira Paibi states that roads have been blocked since 10am today following the indiscriminate attack on the Nungei village.

A press release by the convenor of the JAC, Sanjoy Khaidem states that three motorcycle borne muslim youths had fired indiscriminately at the Nungei meira paibi sanglen located at Nungei Mayai Leikai on April 11 last. The attack injured 14 persons including students.

The JAC has been demanding the arrest of the culprits but there is no clear action to be taken up yet.

In such times, when the protest was ongoing, there have been repeated gunfire attacks at the Nungei village on May 2 last.

The concerned security personnel have also been pulled out despite such times of tension.

The JAC and concerned villagers condemns the attack and as a show of protest, blocked peripheral roads from today onwards. It mentioned further that there will be a series of agitations along with other civil organizations if the government fails to take up corrective measures to control the situation and arrest the concerned culprits.
