Okram Henry appears in drug seizure case

IMPHAL, May 25: Okram Henry Singh, nephew of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh along with one Sapam Agush Singh alias Naoba made their first appearance at special court of NDPS at Lamphel today. They were charge sheeted by the CBI in connection with the seizure of drugs at Imphal Airport by a team of the now disbanded Special Investigation Unit in 2013.

Five persons have been implicated in the case, of which one is a resident of Delhi. Owing to health problems of the non-local, the counsel representing him had applied for fixing another date for appearance. Another two persons who are among the accused have absconded but summon has been issued to them. According to the charge sheet framed by the CBI, Sapam Agush was responsible for receiving the drugs at Tulihal airport. It may be mentioned that O Henry had stood for elections at the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly Elections held in 2012 on a MSCP ticket.

The special judge, NDPS has fixed the next hearing on June 16, 2016.
