IMPHAL, May 24: Police have failed to register an FIR complaint lodged against Khurai MLA Dr Ng Bijoy Singh by a resident of Khurai claiming that the public representative had slapped him in public.
The complainant Itocha had filed the complaint against the MLA yesterday.
According to police sources, the failure to register a FIR against the MLA was due to the nature of the offence committed.
Since it was a non-cognizable offence, FIR could not be registered, the sources added.
However, it has been informed that an investigation has been launched on with regards to the incident.
It may be mentioned that Itocha was allegedly slapped by Khurai MLA in full public view o May 22 at around 8.30 pm at Khurai Puthiba while the former was engaged in efforts to stop overflowing of Imphal River.
