Special train services between Silchar and New Haflong in the Lumding-Silchar hill section were also resumed. A special train left Silchar at 7am on Friday and arrived at New Haflong at 11.30am. It again left New Haflong at 12.20pm and arrived Silchar at 5.10pm on the same day.
Landslides in several places in the hill section, triggered by heavy rainfall over the past fortnight, disrupted the railway services as several trains were cancelled in the route for more than a week.
An NFR source said the Silchar-Guwahati fast passenger train, scheduled to leave from Silchar on Friday, was cancelled.
