IMG_4267IMPHAL, May 20: JCILPS Women Wing as well as Students Wing have condemned the way police allegedly resorted to brute force and inflicted injuries upon five persons who were taking part in a protest rally along Tiddim Road at Keishampat junction today. Speaking to media persons at the JCILPS office of Sega Road, Konjeng Hazari Leikai this evening, Women Wing convener Thongam (O) Apabi said that police not only fired tear gas shells but also physically assaulted many of the protesters thereby inflicting injuries to five persons including three women. Asking police personnel to refrain from such violent actions, Apabi conveyed gratitude to all the people who have been supporting the popular demand.
Apart from staging sit-in-protest on different roads thereby blocking one side of these roads, protest rallies would also be taken out on different routes tomorrow. At the same time the students wing has appealed to all the people supporting the agitation to relax tomorrow’s agitation for students and parents who are going for the AIEEE-UG 2016 exam.
At the end of these protest demonstrations, people will shout in unison different slogans such as “Enforce ILPS in Manipur”, “Translate all points agreed between JCILPS and the Government into action”, “No ILP Act, no political party”, “No ILP Act, no Government”, “No ILP Act, no administration”, “No ILP Act, no Central Government office”, “Outsiders cannot contest elections nor cast votes in Manipur”, Apabi elaborated.
Students Wing convenor Nandababu Oinam too condemned the alleged brute force unleashed by police upon protesters who were taking out a rally starting from Kwakeithel and Sangaiprou today. JCILPS is now convinced that the Government who fails to listen to the public demand and grievances should be taught a lesson and the Students Wing is all prepared to take the agitation to a higher intensity. He further appealed to all the protesters to exempt media and essential services from all kinds of agitation. On the other hand, bandh supporters forced security forces as well as officers travelling with security escorts to alight from their vehicles and walk for a short distance at Hodam Leirak along Tiddim Road.
