IMPHAL, May 2: Red Shield Division busted a weapon forging factory located at Phaijang village, under Saparmaina Police Station, Senapati district on April 27. The operation was led by Jwalamukhi Battalion under Senapati Brigade.
According to a press release of PRO (Defence), based on reliable information regarding existence of a weapon forging factory in village Phaijang, an operation was launched by troops of Jwalamukhi Battalion. The intense search and relentless combing of the house and area adjoining house resulted in recovery of forged weapons, warlike stores, weapon forging equipment and various other accessories.
The recoveries includes two 9mm Pistols, two partially complete Pistols (90 percent complete),one Drill machine, one vice (Furnace marking machine), two magazine frames, three file, two Hacksaw blade, twenty three alphabet punching tools, two weapon bodies, two Barrels, three Recoil spring, one weapon alignment machine, two 9mm magazine and misc tools for making forged weapons.
The weapon forging factory was being used extensively for fabricating, assembling, manufacturing and forgoing weapons for further supplying to underground groups active in Sadar Hills. The recoveries have been handed over to police for further investigation, the release said.
On the other hand, Red Shield Division apprehended one active cadre of KNF(P) in an operation carried out on April 27, who was responsible for carrying out firing at Shantipur under Sekmai Police Station, Imphal West and injuring a non-local resident Ramesh son of Madan Saha on April 22.
Based on specific inputs regarding presence of a suspected cadre of KNF (P) with weapon, an operation was launched by Security Forces in Saparmaina area of Senapati district. The apprehended cadre was identified as Paominthang Singson alias Zames, 35 son of Satkholen Singson, resident of village Kaithelmanbi of Senapati district.
One 9mm Pistol and three live rounds were recovered from him. The apprehended cadre along with the recoveries has been handed over to Imphal police station for further investigation.
Red Shield Division also apprehended one active cadre of Thadou Peoples Liberation Army (TPLA), the newly formed underground group, in operation carried out on April 28, according to the press release.
Based on specific inputs regarding presence of a suspected cadre of Thadou People Liberation Army (TPLA) carrying out extortion at Saparmaina market, on operation was launched by troops of Jwalamukhi Battalion. The suspected individual standing at one shop tried to run away from the location on seeing the approaching troops. However he was chased down and apprehended.
The apprehended cadre identified as chungminlun khongsai, 44 son of Seikhonjang Khongsai, resident of village Bongmol, under Kangpokpi Police Station in Senapati district.
He confessed that he is an active cadre of Thadou Peoples Liberation Army (TPLA) and has been involved in extortion and kidnapping activities in Saparmaina, KPI and Motbung. The insurgent has been handed over to Imphal police Station for further investigations, the release said.
