IMPHAL, May 17: If a political party have strong workers leading to opening of more branches than that political party can become a strong party. It means political workers are more powerful than a political leader in politics, said K Bhabananda Singh, President State BJP.

While announcing his approval to 38 workers from various political parties who had applied for membership of BJP, President K Bhabananda Singh said now the BJP in the state is getting strengthened and acceptance by the common people is growing. “To make the party strong, we need strong workers. A political party can view its structure as that of an inverted pyramid,” said Bhabananda.

When the workers began refusing to accept his leadership, the leader has nothing to do. So it is my appeal to every single BJP worker, let us work together on strengthening the party and usher in a new Manipur, said K Bhabananda Singh.

The newly approved BJP members were former Congress and Trinamool Congress workers from Hiyanglam Assembly Constituency. Th Chaoba Convener, State Election Management Committee, accorded a warm welcome to the fresh entrants.

Among the 38 persons, 17 were from Congress party and 21 from Trinamool Congress. They had joined BJP under the leadership of Maibam Dhanabir Singh, candidate at the last Hiyanglam by-election 2014.

Th Chaoba said for achievement of success in every election building up the party from the grass root level is necessary. So the thrust should be given on cementing the party position from the level of polling stations.

The results of the Assembly election in Assam is being awaited very eagerly and hopefully the BJP will dominate the contest and form the next government in Assam. There were only 17 BJP MLAs in the last Assam Legislative Assembly. If the Congress suffers defeat in Assam it will fall down automatically in Manipur as well, Th Chaoba said.

Commenting on the political environment in Manipur, the former Union minister claimed that general people have accepted the BJP as the only viable alternative to defeat the Congress who has been ruling for 14 years. The BJP is prepared to work hard for getting majority seats at the coming state Assembly election next year, he said.
