Ukhrul, Jun 17 : After the signing of peace accord between NSCN-IM and Government of India which is considered as a landmark achievement for the Nagas, the unique political identity for Naga is being rationally recognized by the Government of India for logical conclusion of the ongoing Indo-Naga peace dialogue, stated RH Raising, Kilo Kilonser, NSCN-IM.
Following this principle of understanding, the Nagas would be allowed to have liberty of having separate pass- port and flag for peaceful co-existence between the two entities soon after the settlement of Indo-Naga issue.
Speaking at the occasion of a one day public consultative meeting on Indo-Naga peace talk at Town Hall, Phungreitang, the Kilo Kilonser enlightened the general public on the achievement of the ongoing talk after the peace accord was signed on August 3, 2015.
In order to resolve the Indo-Naga issue at the earliest, the Government of India has warmly accepted the political concept, recognized the unique history and political identity of Naga. These recognitions will certainly pave the way for building a separate entity for the Nagas.
The demand for self-determination is non-negotiable, sovereignty lies with the people and is a universally accepted principle.
He further deliberated the concept of shared sovereignty, joint defence, joint venture in oil exploration and development.
He asserted that the Government of India clearly understands the Naga issue and is willing to resolve it. Nagas have never been an integral part of Indian nor had signed any agreement with the Government of India to merge into India Union.
He urged the people to change their concept from individualism so as to build a strong Naga Nation. He also acknowledged sacrifices and the relentless support of the people and urged the Nagas to uphold the same principles until an amicable final solution is instituted.
The meeting concluded with the declaration of a one day political consultation and reiterated the stand of the public to work unitedly for the cause of the Nagas as a whole.
The gathering also appealed to the Government of India and NSCN-IM to expedite the dialogue.
