Parliamentary team to inspect status of RD schemes

Imphal, June 1: A team of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Rural Development will be visiting the state from June 18 to conduct on the spot inspection of the manner of implementation of Centrally sponsored schemes under the ambit of the RD ministry and two other ministries.

According to a highly-placed source, the team which will comprise of 20 members and five officers will also cover three other cities namely Khajuraho, Bhopal and Kohima, during their six-day tour from June 16 to 21, 2016. They will be making their assessment on execution of centrally sponsored schemes being implemented under the Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation and Ministry of Panchayat Raj. In addition, the team will examine the role of banks in the implementation of various schemes for rural development.

As per sources, the team will arrive in Imphal on June 18, 2016 and stay here till late evening of June 20. First on their itinerary in the state is a discussion with district level officials of Imphal East district and representatives of United Bank of India, the lead bank in the district.

The next day, the team will conduct field visits at work sites in the district to oversee the implementation of various programmes and schemes taken up under the three ministries. Afterwards, the team will hold a meeting with state chief secretary and other officials of different departments regarding the implementation of various programme and schemes of the ministries. Later, the Parliamentary Standing Committee team will meet officials of State Bank of India, SLBC convener, Manipur and United Bank of India.

Another field visit will be conducted at Charhazari Gram Panchayat under Senapati District followed by discussion with district level officials of Senapati district on the manner of execution of the same schemes. The team will leave for Kohima later in the evening.
