IMPHAL, Jul 27 : ACOAM Lup, Kangleipak has today observed Integrity Day at Manipur Press Club. Kshetrimayum Somorendro, president, ACOAM Lup, Kangleipak said the day has been observed every year to commemorate the withdrawal of the phrase ‘without territorial limit’ in the Govt of India and NSCN-IM ceasefire agreement on July 27, 2001.
Groups representing their respective community are starting to initiate steps to predominate in the State which is very unfortunate. In such process to create its own identity, problems and misunderstandings among people of different communities have come up. To follow the principle of one man’s gain has to be another man’s loss should not be encouraged, Kshetrimayum Somorendro said.
UCM president Johnson Elangbam said, “Agreement between the Government of India and NSCN-IM resulted in the loss of lives of 18 people in 2001. We all should be ready to come together and contribute our part when needed in order to protect the integrity of the State.”
Speaking on Sharmila’s decision to end the fast, Johnson said that whatever decision Sharmila takes, people of Manipur will be by her side always.
